Description

These tree paintings form a series of the Bible verses from Luke 4:18-19.

Title: Gathering

Luke 4:18a “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor.”

Here the central U print is Jesus speaking to a crowd of listeners in the Sermon on the Mount. His words of the BE-attitudes are inscribes onto the contours of the hillside.

Title: River

Luke 4:18b ”He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of the sight for the blind, to release the oppressed.”

In this image tears are spilling and blood is dripping into barbed wire as a symbolic reminder of sorrow, pain and bondage. The cleansing river of forgiveness flows with eyes that are opened to hope and truth. The vibrant water lilies represent new life and freedom through the process of restoration.

Title: Trees

Luke 4:19 “…to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

Silhouettes of human figures as dancing trees are rejoicing in the Year of Jubilee.  Both individuals and the community as the whole are being restored to health. The earth has been restored of all its abundance and beauty.
